OBJECTIVE The objective of the IBA – Foundation Program is to select the deserving and talented students from Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur districts to provide them focused six (6) months foundation program and prepare them to appear in IBA’s or other Institution’s entrance examination and interview for the undergraduate programs. This foundation program will provide an opportunity to the students to expand their horizons by getting training from the leading institute of Pakistan. SCOPE AND FACILITIES
The foundation program class size should be approximately 40
students. The class size of 40 is manageable for teachers for the
kind of preparatory sessions envisaged under this program and also
for advising the individual students attached to them for mentoring
and tutoring. All trainees will be expected to live together at the
IBA run and managed premises. Accommodation facilities for these
trainees during the foundation program would be kept in the close
vicinity of IBA. Transportation arrangements will be provided to
pick and drop the students for their classes from the hostel
premises. Girl students will be provided separate accommodation in
STHP Girls Hostel (Under Construction) under the direct supervision
of a designated lady staff member. To promote team building and
interpersonal skills extracurricular activities such as sports,
cultural events, debating contests would also be organized by the
trainees themselves. ii. Tutorial session were also arranged in which senior IBA students were selected as a ‘Mentor’ to help students in their assignments and other class activities. iii. Material will be provided free of cost iv. Free accomodation druing the stay at IBA. Girls will be provided separat accommodation under the direct supervision of lady warden v. Stipend Rs. 3000/- per month will be paid to the deserving candidates vi. Distinguish lectures from the reowned trainers vii. Visits to the Corporate organizations during the foundation program viii. Mock Exams ix. Mandatory reading and Library
Sessions PROGRAM DETAILS The program will be operated on the following lines: i. The program will be based on merit-cum-need consideration. ii. The IBA-Foundation Program will be based on the pattern of IBA regular semester which will start in the mid of December and end on June. iii. The merit criteria will be determined by selecting only those students who have secured a minimum of ‘70% or above’ and are in the merit list at the Intermediate examination conducted by the Boards of Intermediate Education of Sindh. iv. The financial needs criteria would be those developed by HEC for its ongoing ‘Financial Support for Meritorious Needy Students’. v. Those who express interest in pursuing higher studies in Business Administration and Computer Sciences at IBA and meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to participate in a Foundation program to be conducted at IBA, Karachi, with the objective of preparing these students for IBA aptitude test for prepare them for undergraduate programs. vi. The Foundation program would be for duration of 6 months prior to the IBA entrance examinations for BBA / BS. vii. Upon induction to the Foundation program, the trainees will be provided full lodging and boarding free of cost, free tuition, plus a small stipend to cover other personal expenses. viii. The Foundation program will be conducted by selected IBA faculty members and other trainers from outside who have demonstrated proven ability in their respective fields. ix. The six core subjects which would be as follows: (1) English Grammar & Composition, (2) Mathematics, (3) Introduction to Computer Applications, (4) Principles of Microeconomics, (5) Principles of Accounting, (6) Presentation & Communication Skills. In addition, interviewing techniques, personal development and grooming will also be emphasized. x. Each trainee will be attached with a Faculty Advisor who will be counseling, coaching and mentoring the trainee in professional, personal and all other matters during the entire duration of the program and for those selected to IBA for the four year period of their studies. xi. The pedagogical tools will not be limited to lectures only but extend to individual presentations, class participation, written assignments or report preparation, mock exams, group discussions and problem solving. To provide broader exposure to the trainees, visits to selected corporate sector entities/ sports/ debates would form a part of the program. xii. Upon completion of this Foundation program, the trainees will have to appear at the IBA aptitude test for entrance into BBA / BS degree courses. Those who will be selected for admission to IBA Karachi will then apply for the scholarship via regular scholarship scheme for which the Scholarship Committee will decide the need criteria upon induction of student in the undergraduate program of IBA. xiii. To intensify dissemination and create greater awareness, the IBA Program Manager would visit some of the leading schools under the jurisdiction of each Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, making presentations on the IBA Foundation Program.
